Do not use your phone behind the wheel! It should be obvious but apparently, there are a lot of people that don't get it. This statistic shows that: texting while driving citations in Minnesota went up 30% last year compared to 2017.

Last year a whopping 9,545 tickets were handed out to drivers for texting behind the wheel. In 2017 there were 7,357 handed out. And if we look back to 2012 there were 1,707 tickets. So between 2012 and 2018, there was a 459% increase in citations. That's ridiculous.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says there have already been 2 deaths this year related to distracted driving. One of them involved someone who was using their phone.

The director of the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety, Mike Hanson, told Bring Me the News "'we shouldn’t need laws to encourage drivers to pay attention to the road.'”

I'm really hoping the law making it illegal to even hold your phone will your driving passes soon. Read more about that HERE!
