If you're looking to get out and enjoy the great outdoors this year but you don't want to turn into one big bug bite, here's some good news from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Minnesota is known for its water-- we're the Land of 10,000 Lakes, after all-- but there is a new warning about eating fish caught in these bodies of water.
The Minnesota DNR says poison hemlock is a plant that contains a toxin that “impacts the nervous system, causing trembling, salivation, lack of coordination, dilated pupils, weak pulse, respiratory paralysis, coma and death.”
There is some spectacular scenery in Minnesota, and while we don't have any huge mountain ranges, we do know where the highest point in the state is located.
The preliminary numbers are in for the DNR, and the deer harvest was up in 2024 over last year. However, there's still 'a ways to go' in parts of the state.
