St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - State officials now say the snow that fell across parts of Minnesota yesterday contributed to over 500 traffic crashes. The State Patrol says the crashes included in the total occurred between noon yesterday and 9:45 this morning. In addition, the State Patrol reported over 150 vehicle spinouts on snow-covered roadways.

There were just over 50 injuries associated with the crashes and at least one fatality. Lakeville Police say 23-year-old Hannah Almany has died from injuries she suffered yesterday when her vehicle slid into the path of SUV headed in the opposite direction on County Road 50. The occupants of the SUV were treated for minor injuries.

Two of the injury crashes occurred in southeastern Minnesota. The State Patrol says 18-year-old Gretchen Anderson of Zumbrota was transported to St. Marys Hospital after a rollover crash along Highway 57 in Dodge County. The other injury crash occurred on Highway 52 south of Chatfield where 48-year-old Pandora Reynolds of Canton was hurt when the car she was in slid off the highway and crashed into a tree. The State Patrol says the injuries suffered by Reynolds and Anderson were considered non-life threatening.
