Several Minnesotans Killed in Recent Traffic Wrecks

St Cloud, MN (KROC AM News) - There has been a rash of fatal traffic wrecks in Minnesota in the past week.

The most recent happened near St Cloud Tuesday afternoon that involved a motorcycle and three other vehicles.

The Minnesota State Patrol says a car went through the median and collided with an SUV and the motorcycle. A pickup truck was also involved in the wreck. The driver of the car died at the scene. She was identified as 21-year-old Abby Redmond of Sartell. The driver of the motorcycle was also killed. He was identified as 45-year-old David Evans of Sauk Rapids.

Another Minnesota motorcyclist was fatally injured around 1:00 AM Tuesday after hitting a deer near Park Rapids. He was identified as 42-year-old Jason Robert of Park Rapids.

At least ten people have been killed in wrecks in Minnesota since July 22nd. Three were driving motorcycles.

The MN Office of Traffic Safety posted this on its Facebook page Tuesday:

Eight people have lost their lives since Friday. Seven of the fatalities occurred July 24 and 25:

• One crash was a triple fatality in Itasca County.

• The ages of the fatalities range from 11 to 85 years old.

• The crashes occurred in Stearns, Ramsey, Redwood and Itasca counties.

• The lives lost included three unbelted occupants.

• Two of the crashes were speed-related (one possibly involved a medical issue).

• Two of the crashes involved failure to yield.

Preliminary reports show 192 people have died on Minnesota roads in 2020, compared with 183 this time last year.

Nine people were killed in separate wrecks July 16th and 17th, including four motorcyclists.

Tragedy struck several families recently when nine people died in two days on Minnesota roads.
The fatalities on July 16 and 17 include:

• Four motorcyclists from Lake, Beltrami, St. Louis and Lac Qui Parle counties. All four motorcyclists were men ages 23 to 60 years old.

• Of the five motorists who died:

o At least one crash involved alcohol.

o Three were unbuckled.

o At least one involved speeding.

o One was in a work zone.

o Four men and a woman ranging from 21 to 70 years old.

o The fatal crashes were in Anoka, Washington, Beltrami, Blue Earth and Stevens counties.
