While the famous whale might not be heading here, SeaWorld did just make an offer to buy Minnesota's own Valleyfair.

It's not likely that we'll see Shamu, the Orca whale made famous by various shows at SeaWorld (mainly because SeaWorld stopped their Orca breeding program in 2016), in any of Minnesota's 10,000 Lakes any time soon, but SeaWorld itself DID just offer to buy Valleyfair.

Specifically, SeaWorld's parent company, SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc., just offered to buy Cedar Fair, the amusement company that owns Vallefair in Shakopee (off Highway-169 in the southwest Twin Cities metro, about an hour and a half northwest of Rochester.)

Cedar Fair actually owns 16 other amusement parks in addition to Minnesota's Valleyfair, including King's Island and Cedar Point in Ohio, Dorney Park in Pennsylvania and Knott's Berry Farm in California. It also owns 11 different hotels.

And according to this CNBC story, Cedar Fair just made a gigantic offer to buy ALL those properties, in a deal that would be worth $3.4 billion. If it goes through, the deal would merge SeaWorld's 12 properties (which include SeaWorld Parks in Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio along with Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay as well as 4 other parks) with Cedar Fair's properties, making the combined business one of the top amusement park operators in the world, the story said.

This offer isn't the first time another company has wanted to buy Valleyfair and Cedar Fair's other properties, though. The Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal noted that the company turned down an offer worth $4 billion from Six Flags Entertainment back in 2019. Both stories said Cedar Fair's management is 'reviewing the offer.'

Now, if you don't quite have $3.4 billion to spend on 17 amusement parks, keep scrolling to check out this amazing home in Rochester that's for sale... for the bargain price of just $1 million!
