SE Minnesota Junior Becomes Vikings GM “For A Day”

Chatfield incoming Junior Hunter Johnson now has the best summer vacation story to share once school resumes in September. Johnson got to be the Minnesota Vikings' "GM for the day" as part of his Make-A-Wish Minnesota request on July 28th. 

In a post to the Minnesota Vikings website this morning chronicles Hunter's day as the Vikings' GM. Johnson has been the Chatfield Gophers football manager for the last 5+ years so he wasn't foreign to being on a football field, but it's my guess that it was a little different than Chatfields.

Johnson was the real deal. He got to be suited up in Vikings apparel, got a tour of Twin Cities Orthopedic (where the Vikings have their training camp), and even chatted with new Vikings coach and Super Bowl Champion Gary Kubiak.

Hunter according to the VIkings.com blog post was "born with Spina Bifida and hydrocephalus." That means Hunter requires a shunt to brain fluid that builds up in his cranium. Over the last year and a half, a malfunction with the shunt turned Hunter's life into a nightmare. His family did tell Vikings.com that he was doing better.

Not only was Hunter GM for the day with the Vikings, but he also signed a contract with the team, and received tickets to attend the season/home opener on Sept 8th.
