Rockers React: Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Dead at 41
The music world has suffered yet another tragic loss as Linkin Park co-vocalist Chester Bennington was reported dead by suicide at the age of 41 Thursday afternoon (July 20).
It's been reported that Bennington was discovered at a private residence in a Palos Verdes estate in Los Angeles County. His body was discovered Thursday just before 9AM.
The news comes on what would have been Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday. Bennington was close with the Soundgarden singer who died after hanging himself earlier this year and also sang at Cornell's funeral. It's been reported that Bennington committed suicide by hanging as well.
Linkin Park just released a new album, One More Light, earlier this year, featuring the single "Heavy" which paired Bennington with pop vocalist Kiiara. Back in May, the band delivered a moving performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live shortly after Cornell's passing.
As expected, the news has sent shockwaves through the music and entertainment world and a number of rockers have begun to express their sorrow and grief over the loss of another talented musician, a friend, a brother and a peer. Below is a sampling of the some of the social media outpouring and we'll continue to update this post throughout the day.
