As KROC NEWS reported, all large public events in Rochester have been suspended 'til mid-August. This includes the wildly popular Thursdays Downtown and Movies in the Park, both presented by the Rochester Downtown Alliance (RDA).

As was the case in the decision by the State Fair Board, the city cited the ongoing efforts to reduce the spread of the coronavirus for the decision to cancel the large events in city facilities and city grounds. (KROC NEWS)

I just heard from Katie Adelman, from the RDA, and she says,

While large events are not permissible at this time, the RDA is actively exploring ways to support downtown this summer, and will be launching virtual events, public space improvements, passive programs, and other initiatives in the coming weeks.

One of the things they'll be doing is a virtual Thursday's Downtown artisan market. That'll include online entertainment and food and beverage vendor options by mid-June.

What About Movies In the Park?

RDA is canceling the June, July, and August program. Adelman again points to the uncertainty in the next few months.

Dogs Downtown?

Dogs Downtown, Harvest Festival, and Here Comes Santa Clause may be adjusted or delayed or cancelled. RDA has set decision dates for each event, see those HERE.
