Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for a conviction connected to a fatal drug overdose.

40-year-old Desiree Franken previously pleaded guilty to a second-degree manslaughter charge through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of a third-degree murder charge and felony drug charges. She was accused of supplying heroin to an Austin woman who died of a drug overdose in June 2017. The charges stated that investigators found text messages on the victim’s cell phone involving the purchase of 3 grams of the drug from Franken the night before she died.

The judge in the case also ordered Franken to pay almost $4500 in restitution.
