Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester woman was fatally injured in a traffic accident Friday afternoon.

The Rochester Police Dept. released details of the wreck Monday.

The report says a car driven by 67-year-old Alan Strand of Welch made a left turn at the intersection of 55th St and Bandel Rd NW. His vehicle was struck by an oncoming SUV driven by 56-year-old Marcelle Goodman of Oronoco.

The woman who was killed was in the front passenger seat of the SUV. She was identified as 82-year-old Avis Skjeie. She was taken to St Marys Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The police report indicates she may not have been wearing a seat belt.

A 64-year-old female passenger in Strand’s car was also taken to St Marys for treatment of minor injuries.

The report says Strand failed to yield the right of way as he was making a turn on a yellow flashing arrow and Goodman had the green light.
