Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman is accused of uploading and sharing child pornography through an online “chat” service.

The Olmsted County Attorney's Office this week filed 10 felony charges involving the dissemination of child pornography against 21-year-old Jayma Gordon Smith. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance on the charges on June 14th.

According to the criminal complaint, the Rochester Police Department received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force involving 23 videos depicting child sexual abuse that were reported to be uploaded and shared with other users and groups on an online platform. Investigators stated they were able to trace the uploads to a Gmail account and cell phone belonging to Smith.

They then obtained a search warrant for Smith's residence and the court record says that during the search she spoke with investigators and admitted receiving child pornography, but she denied sending any images or videos. The complaint also states that Smith told the investigators she had a similar experience when she was a teenager.

A search warrant was then served on an online platform known as "KIK" and investigators were supplied with chat logs that documented accounts held by Smith that had "both sent and received multiple videos depicting child pornography." The criminal complaint lists 10 online video exchanges that occurred in February of last year that appeared to show the sexual abuse of children ranging in age from infancy to about 14-16 years old.
