Rochester Will Not Have a Curfew Sunday night-Monday
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The City of Rochester has decided against issuing another curfew order for tonight.
While both Minneapolis and St. Paul, along with many of the Twin Cities suburbs will have curfews in effect from 8 o'clock tonight through 6 AM Monday, Rochester officials today announced there will not be another curfew Sunday night. The city did impose a 9 PM until 5 AM curfew for downtown Rochester last night.
“Thank you to our community members who listened and stayed at home last night. We appreciate your support in helping ensure our community is safe. We thank those who peacefully gathered to honor the memory of George Floyd,” said Mayor Kim Norton.
There have been several marches, rallies, protests, and vigils in Rochester since Friday as local community members reacted to the death of George Floyd while he was being pinned by a Minneapolis police officer with his knee on his neck last Monday evening.
