Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Users and would-be users of Rochester’s popular Park and Ride service will have more options this summer.

The Rochester City Council has approved a new lease with Olmsted County to expand the number of park and ride spaces at Graham Park (county fairgrounds).

The lease will add more spaces at the site, beginning July 1. The number will increase from the current 230 to 368 on that date. The city will pay the county $17 a month for each space.

Rochester Public Transit has also worked out a lease agreement for 125 spaces from Bethel Lutheran Church for its parking lot at Third Avenue and Ninth Street Southeast. The proposed agreement would have the city pay Bethel $25 per month for each space.

The council delayed a vote on the recommendation at its Monday meeting so it can get input from neighbors of the church.

The city leases about 1,300 spaces and plans to add more in the future.
