Rochester, Southeast MN and Iowa See Soggy Weekend
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A soggy weekend prompted flood watches in Rochester and throughout southeast Minnesota.
The Rochester flood watch was allowed to expire Monday morning. The Rochester International Airport saw showers and thunderstorms bring 1.99 inches of rain Saturday and 0.89 inches Sunday, according to NOAA data.
The National Weather Service in La Crosse shared preliminary data that shows most of southeast Minnesota experienced at least an inch of rain Saturday through Sunday. The highest rainfall amounts were south of Rochester. Many Iowa cities reported at least eight inches of rain over the weekend.
Oronoco-based People's Energy Cooperative reported peak outages topped out at nearly 3,000 customers in their southern service area. Those customers had their lights come back on Sunday.
This week’s forecast indicates the ground will have a chance to dry out from the wet weekend. Sunshine and no rain chances are predicted through Friday.
