Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Parents with students participating in sports or other Rochester school district extracurricular activities will be shelling out more this fall.

The School Board was briefed last night on plans to increase athletic and activities fees by $20 to $30 per sport and per student to cover increased costs. The range in the increase is based on the length of the season and equipment costs. There is also no individual student or family maximum. School district officials note that students enrolled in the reduced or free lunch program and have the athletic activities fee waived.

The last time the athletic fees were adjusted was during the 2010-2011 school year. During the last school year, the athletic usage fees generated approximately $525,000 to pay for coach and adviser salaries, transportation, facility rentals and officiating.
