Rochester Police Remove Unruly Woman From Spirit Airlines Flight
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - There was a bit of excitement at the Rochester Airport this morning after a Spirit Airlines flight was diverted to the facility because of a medical emergency involving a passenger. Rochester Police Lieutenant Mike Sadauskis says police officers responded because a female passenger “freaked out” after the crew informed the passengers of the need to make an unexpected stop on a flight from Houston, Texas to the Twin Cities.
The crew told police the woman got out of her seat and was running and screaming inside the aircraft before crewmembers were able to get her under control and the plane landed around 10:45 am. Lieutenant Sadauskis say the woman also screamed and yelled at the officers who were called to remove her from the airplane, but she was not arrested and apparently found ground transportation for the final leg of her travels.
The passenger with the medical emergency was transported by ambulance to St. Marys Hospital for treatment, but information about that person and their medical condition has not been released. Lieutenant Sadauskis noted two other passengers used the opportunity to voluntarily exit the plane, including a man who indicated his back was sore from sitting.
