Rochester Police Release Name of Injured Pedestrian
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department has released the name of the Rochester man who was badly injured while attempting to cross a busy downtown street Monday morning.
A spokesman says 56-year-old Philip Hicks was in the crosswalk at the intersection of 2nd Street Southwest and South Broadway when he was struck by a minivan that was sent spinning into the crosswalk when it collided with a pickup truck. Police say the minivan driver, 45-year-old Raho Mohamud Omer, was heading north on Broadway and attempting to turn left onto 2nd Street when he collided with a southbound pickup. Omer was cited for failing to yield to the other vehicle.
Hicks’ condition was described as critical at the crash scene, but a Mayo Clinic spokeswoman says he is not listed as a patient today.
