Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The necklace grabber has struck again in Rochester.

The latest incident was reported Thursday.

A 70-year-old woman told police she was walking in the 700 block of 17 ½ St SE around 10:30 AM when a white van pulled up. The woman said a man, a woman and three children were in the van.

The woman said they asked if she wanted to check out some gold necklaces. She said while they were showing her some necklaces and rings the man in the van suddenly grabbed the necklace she was wearing and they drove off.

RPD says there have been several similar incidents in recent weeks. Police said earlier a group may be involved in the thefts.

RPD is passing on this advice:

“If someone approaches and wants to show or sell jewelry, quickly disengage contact with them and contact the police department with subject and vehicle descriptions.”
