Rochester Outdoor Rinks Will Be Open This Winter But Dress Warmly

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - If you enjoy using Rochester’s outdoor ice skating rinks, have a plan B ready this winter. There will be no warming houses.

Blame it on Covid.

According to a Rochester Parks Dept. memo:

“Staff has decided not to open the warming houses this year due to COVID-19 safety concerns. Park Operations will still be installing and maintaining the outdoor rinks, we will just not open the warming houses."

Staff is working on protocols to offer skate checkouts at Soldiers Field Park. Staff is shooting for an opening of that site in early January
