Rochester, Minnesota mom fed up about the dishwasher never getting loaded or unloaded by the kids...who are home all day and sleeping until 11 am.

Moms, not sure about you but there are a few things about being a mom that frustrate me to the core.  I can handle the 45-minute temper tantrum my 3-year-old had at Target in aisle 4.  And somehow I managed to watch hours of Barney episodes without going insane.  But there is one thing that I ask my kids to do every SINGLE day that just isn't happening.  It is as if the words I have spoken every day in my life have never been heard.  The dishwasher.

How to parent passive-aggressively like a pro.

Since I live in the great state of Minnesota Nice, I've become a master at driving passive-aggressively. In fact, some might call my lack of zipper merging skills pro level.  I thought that maybe I should take those skills I've learned in the land of 10,000 lakes and start applying those to the areas of parenting where I seem to be failing.

Step One:  Talk to the teens like you are one of them.

For me, this means I needed to create a TikTok account and figure out how the heck to use it.  This took me 13 days...because I am old.  To be honest, there are some things on TikTok I wish I hadn't seen and there are options that I have no idea what they even mean.  You gotta start somewhere though, right?!

Oh look, I already have 19 followers.  I have zero idea how or why, but cool.  If you want to make it 20, click here.

Step Two:  Figure out what message you want to communicate

I have one objective - get my kids to empty and load the dishwasher so that when I come home from working all day, I see a clean kitchen and empty countertops.

Step Three: Create your passive-aggressive TikTok message for your kids

I may parent the rest of 2021 just through TikTok

Not sure if it is the best idea I've ever had but I'm thinking if this pandemic goes on much longer, TikTok parenting might just be my thing. 😉

FILL IN THE BLANK: Rochester has way too many ________.

If someone asked you, "What does Rochester have too many of?", what would you say? I asked that question to people living in the Med City and got quite the list of answers. Some might make you laugh (cause they are true) and others may have you scratching your head a bit because this is the first time you've realized we have a few issues happening in our gorgeous city. Scroll through the list that were sent to me and see how many you agree with.
