Rochester Man Attacked Twice by Same Robbers the Same Night
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police are investigating attempted robberies and assaults involving the same victim in the same evening at two different locations in the city.
Police Captain Casey Moilanen says the first incident was reported Friday evening as the 20-year-old victim was leaving his job at the Subway restaurant on 21st Avenue Northwest. He told officers he was walking to his vehicle when two people wearing face masks ran up to him and struck him on the head before trying to steal his backpack and other belongings. They were not successful and fled empty-handed.
The man told police he then drove to a friend's home in the town block of 9th Street Northwest and was attacked from behind after he got out of his vehicle. This time, the victim indicated he was struck on the head several times with a pistol as the same individuals attempted to steal his backpack and other property. Again, they were unsuccessful and fled in what the victim described as an older Chevrolet Impala or Malibu.
Captain Moilanen says the man was not able to provide good descriptions of either attacker. He did suffer some cuts, scrapes, and bruises in the assaults. Police were first notified of the assaults and attempted robberies shortly before 8 PM on Friday.
