Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man is facing several criminal charges related to a domestic incident that happened Monday near the former Kmart store.

Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says 28-year-old Derrick Mays used his car to block another vehicle around 10:30 AM. A woman who was a passenger in the vehicle had obtained a court order that prevented him from having contact with her. Moilanen says Mays tried to break a window to get into the vehicle but the driver was able to drive away.

Mays chased the vehicle until it stopped in a nearby parking lot and he tried breaking the window again. The woman called 911 and when officers arrived, Mays drove off through a residential neighborhood at a high rate of speed.

Moilanen says the officers decided not to chase Mays and later located him at an apartment and took him into custody.
