Rochester Man Arrested for 11th DUI; Facing Possible Prison Time
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man may be sent to prison for his latest DUI arrest.
It happened last Sunday afternoon after he was reported driving erratically on East Circle Dr and nearly crashed head-on into another vehicle. An officer spotted the car and pulled it over.
The criminal complaint says 45-year-old Bret Christopherson smelled of alcohol. There was an open can of beer at his feet and an open case on the passenger’s seat. Christopherson told the officer he had consumed 4-5 beers. He was taken to jail where a test showed he had a blood/alcohol level of .23 - an hour after his arrest.
The complaint says Christopherson told the officer the alcohol “probably affected his ability to drive.”
Court records show Christopherson was given a stayed 54-month prison sentence for a 2015 DUI conviction and placed on probation for 7 years. It’s possible the stay could be lifted, meaning he would be sent to prison.
Records also show Christopherson has been arrested for DUI eleven times since 1991. Four were felonies cases.
