Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was arrested early Friday as the suspect in a robbery/assault of a teenager earlier this week.

Police accuse 23-year-old Yiep Lam of assaulting a 17-year-old who had agreed to meet him near Gage school late Wednesday. Lam began driving off with the teen’s car - but the victim was able to get into the vehicle and fought with him until it crashed into a building. Lam ran off on foot but was identified by the teenager, who was treated for facial injuries in the assault by Lam and some other males.

Lam is also facing charges in an incident that occurred Sept 11 when a man reported being mugged in the 400 block of 1st Ave SW.

The victim said a man told him he had a gun and demanded his money. He ordered the victim to go to a nearby ATM where he withdrew some money. The victim says the man then knocked him to the ground and began kicking and hitting him before he walked away. Police say they were able to identify Lam as the suspect in that incident.
