Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) -  The Rochester City Council has rescinded an earlier decision involving local liquor stores and breweries.

The Council recently changed the off sale liquor ordinance to allow breweries to sell beer until 10 p.m. But liquor store hours were not changed. The city later learned brewery sales are restricted to the same hours as liquor stores.

The issue was back before the Council Monday night and it voted 6-1 to permit liquor stores to remain open through 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Council President Randy Staver was the only one to vote against the change.

It's possible the new hours could become effective next week.
