Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man found out the hard way what happens when you fail to follow orders from a police K9 officer.

Rochester officers were looking for 38-year-old Brandon Wenthold Wednesday night when they spotted him walking near his home in the Mayo High School neighborhood.

A police spokesman says Wenthold has a history of violent domestic incidents and he was wanted on a warrant.

When Wenthold saw the officers, he took off running and ignored commands to stop. A K9 officer was involved in the pursuit, which led to a dark backyard.

Because of Wenthold’s background and the conditions, the K9 officer threatened to release his dog if he did not surrender. When Wenthold ignored the officer, the dog was released and latched onto his left arm. Wenthold stopped resisting and after being checked by a paramedic, was taken to jail.
