Rochester City Council Member Wants Another Face Mask Mandate
Rochester, MN(KROC AM News) - A member of the Rochester City Council Monday night tried to win approval of her proposal to enact another citywide Covid mask mandate.
The city adopted a mandate last July that was superseded by a state requirement.
Gov. Tim Walz lifted the state mandate last Friday but gave local governments the option to adopt their own.
Council member Molly Dennis made her proposal at the end of a 5-hour long meeting.
Dennis offered a resolution to require masks in all businesses, with the same exceptions as in the earlier city and state mandates. It would be in effect through July 1st.
She told the council she has particular concern for children who may be exposed to the virus.
She was the only council member to vote for the proposal.
