Rochester Business Becomes Victim of Cold Weather
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester business became a victim of the cold weather Wednesday evening.
A fire sprinkler pipe at Furniture Superstore froze and burst, spilling several thousands of gallons of water into the business.
Co-owner Jim Sather says the business was closed at the time and a security company became aware of the leak around 10:00 PM. Sather says a cleanup crew was brought in right away and the store was able to open Thursday morning. He says besides the flooring, some furniture was also damaged.
Sather is estimating the damage at $40,000 and said he's "thankful it wasn’t worse.”
Sather was told by the cleanup crew there have been several similar incidents this week. There may be even more in coming days as frozen pipes begin to thaw.
