Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  - Alcohol may soon be restricted at two city parks.

The Rochester Park Board is scheduled to discuss a proposal at its Tuesday meeting that would affect future alcohol consumption at Slatterly Park in the southeast part of the city and Kutzky Park, which is in a northwestern neighborhood. Staff is proposing the ban due to reported alcohol-related problems at the parks.

Police have told the Park Department most of the problems have occurred in Kutzky Park.

The Kutzky Park Neighborhood Association is supporting the ban but some members expressed concern about the possible impact it could have on other parks.

The board will be presented with a draft ordinance that includes a provision for the consumption of alcoholic beverages if a permit is obtained, similar to a policy now in effect at the Mayo Civic Center Park.
