Wisconsin Manufacturer Now Faces Citations, Big Fine After Employee Amputations
The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) plays an important role for workers across the country.
OSHA's primary function is to ensure safe and healthy working conditions for employees by setting and enforcing standards, and by providing training, outreach, education, and assistance. The department works diligently to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities, and protects workers' rights to a safe work environment.
When they hear about a company failing to provide a safe environment, whether by a complaint sent by employees or other means, they conduct an investigation and hold companies liable, if warranted.
OSHA recently conducted several investigations of a company in Wisconsin, the results of which have led to the company being cited and fined.

Ultimately, Progressive Converting was cited for three repeat, 13 serious, and three other-than-serious violations, with proposed penalties totaling $280,110.
The employer now has 15 business days from receipt of the citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA, or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
