Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - An Oronoco woman says she dozed off while driving and struck a bicyclist - and then drove home.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Scott Behrns says 72-year-old Susan Spong was driving on Lake Shady Rd. Friday afternoon when her van struck the victim.

She told deputies she fell asleep for a moment and then heard a loud noise. She says she wasn’t sure where the noise came. Spong drove home and that’s when her husband discovered damage to the vehicle. The two drove back to where Spong heard the noise and found 56-year-old Francis Green.

Spong called 911 and Green was taken to St. Marys Hospital to be checked out. The Oronoco man told deputies he was hit from behind, flew about 50 feet and was knocked out and wasn’t sure what had happened until Spong found him.

Behrns says the accident is under investigation,
