Roseville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Twin Cities man’s hunting trip in northern Minnesota last fall proved profitable for his family. In fact, his wife showed up at the State Lottery headquarters on Friday to claim a $1 million prize because of that hunting excursion up north.

Deb Meyer of Prior Lake told lottery officials her spouse has made it a tradition of returning home with a ticket for the Minnesota Millionaire Raffle and this time his stop at the Superpumper convenience store in Crookston on November 1st was a life-changer.

Following the annual raffle on New Year’s Day, Meyer says her husband scanned the ticket at a convenience store near their home and the machine responded that the prize needed to be claimed at lottery headquarters. He then checked the numbers from the raffle and learned the ticket was worth a million bucks.

“When he got home he said, ‘I think we’ll get to pay off the house this year,’” recalled Deb. “I thought, ‘What happened between here and Kwik Trip?’”

The other top prize winner from the Minnesota Millionaire Raffle was claimed earlier in the week by Andy Gibbons of Ely.
