Nobody Is Obeying This Sign in Rochester
Sure, we're all enduring a spate of construction projects that have closed roads and lanes of traffic all across our area. But there's one temporary sign at a construction project that NOBODY appears to be obeying.
I'm talking about the construction project on West Circle Drive at 3rd Street in northwest Rochester. Traffic is down to one lane in each direction and has been for around a month now, as crews work to install traffic lights at that busy intersection. They're also doing work on the sidewalk, median and approach ramps.
And, to keep things from getting too backed up, there's been a 'No Left Turn' sign set up on 3rd Street right at West Circle Drive. Meaning, if you were trying to head north on West Circle Drive (heading towards Highway-14), you were out of luck.
But, seeing as many people in the Country Club Manor and Diamond Ridge neighborhoods routinely use 3rd Street to get to West Circle Drive (as I do), everybody is STILL turning left at that intersection, right through the construction barrels, despite the No Left Turn sign (with its familiar black arrow with the red circle and slash).
Which means we're all such creatures of habit that we won't change our route-- even if it's now technically illegal-- or that we're so distracted we don't even notice the No Turn sign. Or maybe a little of both? Either way, I guess it's not a big idea-- the project is set to be completed early this fall.
