No Sign of Foul Play in Death of Rochester Baby
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police say an autopsy has revealed a newborn whose teenage mother says was stillborn found no sign of foul play.
Police Lt. Mike Sadauskis says the preliminary autopsy found “no significant physical trauma to the baby, and that the baby was full term.”
The 17-year-old mother says she gave birth at her grandparents’ home Tuesday morning. For unknown reasons, she went to the St Marys Hospital ER later that night with the dead baby girl and police were notified. Sadauskis says the teenager told investigators she “panicked” after discovering the baby was dead and slept most of the day.
Sadauskis says the results of the autopsy are still at a preliminary stage and will not be finalized for several weeks. He says the investigation remains open.
