More Charges Filed in Fatal Minnesota Snowmobile Accident
Center City, MN (KROC AM News) - The criminal complaint against a Minnesota man whose snowmobile struck and fatally injured a young boy last month has been amended again to include new charges.
The complaint against 45-year-old Eric Coleman was amended last week to include a count of criminal vehicular homicide after the boy died. It was amended again Tuesday after Coleman’s blood test result was received. It showed he had a blood/alcohol level of .165 when he was tested while in the hospital after the crash. Coleman is now facing two counts each of criminal vehicular homicide, criminal vehicular operation, and DWI. A bail hearing in Chisago County Court is scheduled Friday.
Coleman was driving a snowmobile the night of Jan 26th when he struck a pickup truck on Lake Chisago, an 8-year-old boy standing next to the vehicle and the boy’s father who was nearby setting up a fish house. The boy, Alan Geisenkoetter, Jr., suffered severe brain and other injuries and died five days later. His father and Coleman were also injured.
Coleman is also scheduled for a hearing next week in Anoka County Court for an alcohol-related traffic wreck in Fridley in November. His blood/alcohol level in that wreck was tested at .3.
