The Minnesota Zoo Totally Put the Hump in Hump Day This Week
Leave it to the crew (and animals) at the Minnesota Zoo to totally make the most of Hump Day this week!
The Minnesota Zoo is one of those hidden gems here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. It's located in Apple Valley, only a little over an hour from Rochester. And it's one of those places you just HAVE to visit, whether it's during one of their interactive programs, one of their concerts (which they hopefully start up again later this year) or just visiting their animal displays.
But the Zoo crew here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes totally just MADE Hump Day this week. They posted an update on the Zoo's Facebook page about a brand new baby, just born at the Zoo-- and one who really gets Hump Day.
Yep, it's a baby camel. A male Bactrian camel calf, to be more specific. The Zoo noted that he was born back on Tuesday, February 8th. He's currently spending time behind the scenes with his mom, Jenny. But the Zoo chose yesterday, Wednesday-- I mean, Hump Day-- to announce his arrival. Well played, Minnesota Zoo, well played!
The new arrival, who doesn't yet have an official name that I can find, joins the more than 4,500 other animals and 505 species who already call the 485-acre Zoo home. The Zoo made news last year when one of their long-time animals escaped (remember THIS story?) It's open every day, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
You can get more info on the Minnesota Zoo HERE. It's a great place to check out some amazing animals-- many of which you can't see anywhere else, certainly NOT as a pet. Keep scrolling to check out the animals it's not legal to keep as a pet here in Minnesota!
