MN Woman Takes Second Job To Get Around COVID Visitor Restriction

A recent study by Mayo Clinic researchers “found a significant increase in loneliness and a decrease in feelings of friendship during the pandemic.”

It's been a long year for people longing to see their family members. Harold Racine told KARE 11, "I was shocked, really. I was kind of dumbfounded” when his daughter first showed up in his room. His daughter, Lisa, thought of a way to get around his nursing home's no-visitor policy and see her dad.

After months of only being able to see her 87-year-old dad through a window, Lisa got frustrated. She told Good Morning America, the winter weather made the window visits more difficult, "I got really frustrated that I couldn't see my dad, and my siblings felt the same way so I decided to get a job there."

She applied to work at his nursing home and was hired. She now works 3-days a week at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Stillwater and gets to see her dad during every shift. She told CNN, "He definitely looks forward to it and it raises his spirits. I wish I could be there every day, but unfortunately, that's not possible."

Recently, the father and daughter got the Covid vaccine shot together.
