Usually, when you think of a state park you think of camping. But at one Minnesota State Park, you can absolutely camp if that's your style but you also have the option to stay in a hotel! I'm a camper but I'm definitely still interested in the possibility of staying here.

This is tucked away in the middle of Itasca State Park and what appears to be the main lodge is called Douglas Lodge. There's also one called The Headwaters Inn. Between the two there are different sized rooms depending on how many are in your group.

Now don't think that you're going to get some swanky hotel in the middle of the woods. It's definitely more of a lodge/bed and breakfast kind of feel which I don't mind at all! It would be super weird to stay in a super fancy hotel at a Minnesota state park.

Douglas Lodge and The Headwaters Inn are steeped in history, as well. Douglas Lodge breaks down into 3 different buildings: the Douglas Lodge rooms, Douglas Lodge fourplex, and the four seasons suites. The Minnesota DNR says that the Douglas Lodge rooms are "located on the second floor of the historic Douglas Lodge" which was built in 1905. The fourplex was "built in 1938 by the Civilian Conservations Corps" and the four seasons suites are two six-plex lodges that appear to have been built much more recently than the others but were built in a way to keep the historic feel. And finally, The Headwaters Inn was built in the 1920s and has served many jobs including "as the Itasca State Park Headquarters, a forestry office, and the Mississippi Headwaters Hostel."

If you're interested in checking this place out, there are rooms to fit 2-4 people. Of course, if you have a bigger party you can rent out more rooms. Maybe you could even rent out the entirety of one of the buildings! It costs between $85-$150 per night per room depending on which room and which lodge you'd like to stay in, which is very affordable.

If you want to check out another cool place where you can spend a weekend, keep scrolling for a super cool castle that you can rent in Minnesota!

You're bound to feel like royalty when you stay at this bed and breakfast in La Crosse, Wisconsin called Castle La Crosse. It's about 75 minutes from Rochester, Minnesota and it's a historic castle that was built in 1892. It's been owned by a few families and a church but in 2017 it was transformed into a beautiful bed and breakfast.
