A Minnesota police K-9 from Hibbing is one of 16 police K-9s to be selected to compete in the next season of "America's Top Dog".

Officer Burns and Chase Selected Out of Thousands of Applicants

According to Fox 9, Chase, and his handler Officer Joey Burns, were selected out of thousands of other applicants to compete in the show that will put the dogs through an entire obstacle course. From the Fox 9 footage below, you can see just how amazing the skills of Chase are.

Officer Burns told Fox 9:

"The obstacles were nothing that we could really build or replicate but the main thing I did was come to parks like this and I would run him on the playground equipment,"

This is pretty amazing to see. Police K-9s are trained specifically for a certain task. In the case of Chase, he is trained to sniff out narcotics or track down missing or wanted people.

Now, Chase and Officer Burns had to learn some new skills before the pair headed out to record the show. They are back now, but you'll have to watch "American's Top Dog" on A&E to see how the team finished.

Growing Up With A Police K-9

Growing up with my dad as a K-9 handler was an amazing experience. At home, the dog was basically a pet. I felt protected, I felt the love that we all enjoy from our four-legged friends, but I also could see his passion for his work. Yes, he absolutely LOVED going to work. Once he retired, you could tell he didn't understand why he wasn't going to work with his partner anymore.

Then, he totally got used to retirement life and was a very happy (and spoiled) dog until his passing.

Police K-9s are wonderful partners, teammates, and family members.

You can just see from the clip just how proud Officer Burns is of Chase and his accomplishments. The level of trust between the two is off the charts.
