Minnesota a Top 10 State for Working Moms

Yet another survey has rated Minnesota highly when it comes to a measure of our standard of living!

With Mother's Day just a few days away, this timely survey from the gang at WalletHub.com has an interesting look at some of the things working moms face today. It said, for instance, that more than 70-percent of moms with young children are working today-- a stat way higher than when I was a kid!

This survey took a look at the "attractiveness of each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia for a working mother based on 16 key metrics," the survey said, looking at everything from median women’s salary to female unemployment rate to day-care quality.

And, once again, Minnesota has ranked pretty high on the list. In fact, we're currently listed as the #7 state in the country for working moms. Which, is pretty good, considering the 51 total entries at which the survey looked. Only New Jersey, the District of Columbia, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts ranked higher-- with Massachusetts coming in at number-one.

According to the survey, Minnesota was first in the category of Female Unemployment Rate and also ranked highly in other categories like Median Women’s Salary and Pediatricians per Capita (thanks again, no doubt, to Mayo Clinic).

Our neighbors to the east, my home state of Wisconsin, came in very close to us here in Minnesota, and is ranked #8; meanwhile, just to our south, Iowa came in at #13.
