Mayo Clinic Named One of Minnesota’s Most Bike-Friendly Businesses
Rochester's own Mayo Clinic just took home another honor, this time for being one of the most bike-friendly businesses in Minnesota.
That fact that Mayo Clinic just won another award almost isn't newsworthy these days, given how often the world-renowned hospital and health care system DO award-winning things. But this new award was only given to two other businesses in the entire state of Minnesota, in addition to Rochester's own Mayo Clinic.
It's the Bicycle Friendly Business Award from the League of American Bicyclists, and Mayo Clinic just took home a Bronze Award for its bike-friendliness. Amanda Holloway, Director of the Mayo Clinic Office of Sustainability, told the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota, Mayo's Rochester campus is proud to receive the bronze-level award:
"Mayo Clinic has made improvements to its support of cyclists with improved bike racks, secure bike parking rooms, and tips for employees to ensure a safe and secure ride to and from work. We appreciate the collaboration with the League of American Bicyclists and We Bike Rochester as we continue to evolve our commuter programs."
Mayo Clinic moved up to the bronze-level award from an honorable mention award it previously won back in 2015. It joins Outstate Brewing Company in Fergus Falls and Fergus Brewing Company, also in Fergus Falls, as the other two bronze-level award-winning businesses for spring 2022.
Other bike-friendly Minnesota businesses recognized by the League of American Bicyclists include Touright Bicycle Shop in Little Falls which won a Platinum Award, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, which won a Gold Award, and the Fergus Falls Police Department, which renewed its Bronze Award.
