Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Mayo Clinic employees in Rochester today took part in another demonstration to show their commitment to fighting against systemic racism.

The participating staff members knelt for 8 minutes and 46 seconds on the lawn in front of St. Marys Hospital. The length of the demonstration has become part of the nationwide demand for an end to racial injustice and signifies the amount of time George Floyd was pinned to the ground by Minneapolis police with a knee pressed against his neck before he died.

Mayo Clinic employees also took part in a similar demonstration last week as healthcare professionals throughout the United States joined a movement called #whitecoatsforblacklives.
