Mantorville, MN (KROC-AM News) - One of the two men arrested following a machete attack in Hayfield earlier this year is headed to prison. 47-year-old Roderick Washington was given a 15-month prison term for his conviction on third-degree assault and another count of possession of a dangerous weapon in a courthouse.

Washington and a 45-year-old Hayfield man were arrested in February after a 27-year-old man suffered a 6-to-10 inch cut on his head when he was struck on the head by a machete. At the time, Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose described his wounds as life-threatening and noted the man lost a great deal of blood. The investigative report said the attack occurred after the victim left a bar with Washington and the second man, who eventually had the charges against him dismissed.

The weapons count against Washington stemmed from an incident at the Dodge County Courthouse in May.
