Are People Lazy for Using Grocery Pickup?

A post on Spotted In Rochester brought up a long wait the person had at a Rochester, Minnesota store and called out the management team. First, let's be clear, this isn't a bash-Walmart post, this is a post wondering...is it really lazy to use Grocery Pickup?

The response was mixed, some saying they've had no trouble...

Others say it's not likely a local problem.

However, the most comment reply was, basically,  "You're lazy. Get out of your car and shop yourself."

Rochester Reacts - Is Using Grocery Pick Up Lazy?

A post on Spotted In Rochester received hundreds of replies to a post about using grocery pick-up at stores. Is it lazy? Check the comments below and you decide.

People Are Getting Lazier, Why Get Mad They Speak the Truth?

Are we getting lazier? I admit, there are times I think that. Watching people shop, leaning heavily against their carts, backs arched, tired, sore, beat down...where's the pride in oneself? Stand up straight, act like you're winning and you will be winning!

Yes, I actually used to think that. I thought I could look at someone and know their story if they were good or bad, lazy or hard-working, all based on how they handled their shopping cart. ((Slaps forehead))

Then I volunteered at Channel One Food Regional Food Bank and believe me, I heard so many comments about cheaters taking advantage of the system. The proof? People pulled into the Channel One parking lot in a nice car.

And the truth is, if the people calling them cheaters would come back the next time they were at Channel one, they'd likely see them in their usual beater, or a different borrowed car. Or maybe the same car, but they might learn the car was paid for before they encountered challenges. Or a million other reasons other than, "They're ripping off the system."

But They ARE Lazy, Having Someone Else Shop for You Is Proof!

Is it proof they're lazy, or simply proof they're using grocery pick-up? All I know for sure is they're using grocery pick-up. Are they sitting on the couch eating delicious bonbons* like a cool, but lazy, bum? Or are they working their butt off all day, every day and using this huge convenience stores offer?

I have no idea. Only their friends and family really know.

Aren't We All Lazy In Some Way?

I don't do grocery pick-up. I like choosing my own produce, I like shopping, looking at labels, all that. However,  I didn't grow the food, milk the cows, make the frozen meals, bread the chicken wings, etc. And maybe that's the most important point of all.

It's all a matter of perspective.  I say there's no value in calling someone else lazy when the only thing you know for sure is they're using modern-day conveniences because it works for them.

FYI - This is a story about calling people lazy with little to no evidence. If you're upset I'm not talking about putting a business on blast on social media, that's a fair concern and you're welcome to write up at least 300 words on the topic and send it my way. I'm happy to include other points of view.  My email is below.
