Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton recently revealed in a tweet that the band will be heading into the studio "very soon." The group released their last studio album,VII: Sturm und Drang, in 2015 before re-launching their original moniker, Burn the Priest.

Responding to another fan who asked when the next album is, he simply said, "Next."

In April of 2017, frontman Randy Blythe said the band were planning to take a "break for real" after their summer touring plans. "It's at a point now where it's, like, at the end of this tour cycle, it's going to be, like, boom, it's time to take a break for real and concentrate more on writing and being at home with the family."

Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler was forced to sit-out the band's trek opening Slayer's North American farewell tour due to injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident. "Thank you all for the overwhelming amount of well wishes in response to my current absence from the Lamb of God shows," he wrote. "I’m humbled to know how many and how much you care."
