Professional MMA fighter Kimbo Slice has died at the age of 42.  Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, was taken to a hospital in Florida for undisclosed reasons. Police were sent to his residence to prevent a potential gathering outside his home by reporters, fans, etc.

There's no word on what may have killed him but police do not suspect foul play.

Slice is survived by 6 children. One of which made his MMA debut in March.

Scott Coker, President of Bellator MMA posted a statement on their website that read:

"We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family.  One of the most popular MMA fighters ever,  Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport.

Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo's friends, fans, and teammates."
