Jilted Rochester Woman Accused of Stabbing Ex-Boyfriend
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - An apparent jealous Rochester woman is facing a felony assault charge for cutting her ex-boyfriend with a knife.
The 28-year-old man told police he and a 29-year-old female friend were sitting in his car after watching a movie Tuesday night when the passenger door suddenly opened. Police say 30-year-old Jessica Smith reached in and grabbed the other woman by the hair and began dragging her out of the car. The ex-boyfriend intervened and that’s when he says Smith pulled out a small pocket knife and cut him twice across the chest. Smith then got into a car and fled. She was later located at her home and arrested.
The ex-boyfriend did not require medical treatment for the superficial cuts.
Police say he and the other woman had dinner before going to the movie. A spokesman says an employee at the restaurant who is friends with Smith saw the two and may have tipped her off.
The man told police he had only dated Smith for about a month before they broke up earlier this year.
