Metallica frontman James Hetfield is in the holiday spirit this year — and he's busy spreading it, delivering presents to public safety workers in his Colorado town.

Acting on behalf of the band's All Within My Hands foundation, Hetfield visited the police and fire departments in Vail, Colorado on Dec. 20 and 21, bringing Starbucks gift cards to personnel during both visits. Hetfield also posed for photo ops with police and firefighters, as shared by the All Within My Hands Twitter account.

Metallica have been busy with the foundation since announcing its founding in February. The organization, whose mission statement describes a dedication to "creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger and other critical local services," uses donations to partner with "a cross-section of national and local charities" — and pursue initiatives such as a recently announced collaboration with Starbucks and Spotify.

As outlined at the All Within My Hands website, those companies pooled $1 million to divide between the foundation, Chance the Rapper's Social Works and Lady Gaga's Born This Way foundation. Metallica have announced plans to direct their portion of the funds to The Mission Continues, an organization dedicated to helping veterans.

Metallica also used All Within My Hands to help raise funds in connection with their recent Band Together benefit show, which ended up bringing in $17 million for victims of the recent Northern California wildfires.
