Popular ‘Dome Dog’ Hot Dogs Returning to Minnesota This Week
They were a concession classic you could only get at the previous home of the Minnesota Twins, but the Dome Dogs are coming back this week.
After not making the playoffs last year, the Minnesota Twins won the American League Central Division title earlier this year and are returning to the postseason this week. And returning with them is one of those classic ballpark foods: The Dome Dog!
In case you don't remember, the Dome Dog was basically a large hot dog packaged along with a bag of potato chips, put in a paper boat, and sold together at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, the indoor venue the Twins, Vikings, and Gophers called home between 1982 and 2009.

Austin, Minnesota-based meat mega-conglomerate Hormel Foods had the Metrodome hot dog contract in the '90s and '00s. Its girthy, quarter-pound, six-inch frank (product #12646, still available today for commercial buyers) was plopped between a mammoth sesame-seed bun and served in a cardboard boat with Old Dutch chips—voila, Dome Dog.
Of course, when the Twins made the move into Target Field in 2009, the Dome Dog didn't make the trip with them. But that doesn't mean that they're completely gone, however.
According to a post on their Facebook page, B-52 Burgers and Brew Lakeville announced over the weekend that they're bringing back the Dome Dog, just in time for the Twins' first 2023 playoff game, which will take place at Target Field on Tuesday, October 3rd against the Toronto Blue Jays.
