Two of America’s Best Fish Fries are in Minnesota
Lent season is upon us and Friday night fish fries are in full swing. I actually just put an article together on the best fish fries in Southern Minnesota (I put the list at the end of this post for you).
This just in! Did you know that Minnesota has some of the best Fish Fries in the entire country?
That's right! Mashed.com recently came out with their list of the "Best Fish Fries In America" and two restaurants in Minnesota made the cut. How cool is that?
Tell me you're not drooling over the thought of panko-breaded walleye served with coleslaw, pumpernickel rye bread, and your choice of side (fries, tots, veggies, tortilla chips)? Plus, a locally made beer! Oh my yum.
You can snag that scrumptious grub at Minnesota's First Woman-Owned Microbrewery - Urban Growler in St. Paul. Meet the ladies behind Urban Growler:
I did a little digging on their backstory and one of the owners is actually a Wisconsin gal. On their website, she says "you can take the girl out of Wisconsin, but you can't take the desire for a fish fry out of the girl. Hence, our Friday night fish frys."
It's one of the best in America, so you better believe it goes fast. On the menu it says, "every Friday while supplies last," so make sure you get there early.

I did say there are TWO that are being recognized and the other actually has multiple locations.
Tipsy Steer has three locations in Minneapolis, Roseville, and Blaine. They are known for serving up locally sourced comfort food. And, on Friday's during lent - lightly breaded Walleye fish fry special:
Other popular fish items on their menu - Sunnies and chips, aka sunfish served with fries and coleslaw, a sunny po'boy, and so much more. YUM! According to the article, Tipsy Steer prides itself on serving seasonal catches and showcasing producers in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The restaurant even grows its own herbs on-site.
